I have experienced a wide variety of injuries within my lifetime — these have included concussions, broken bones, joint displacements, several scratched corneas and an innumerable array of sprains and bruises. I considered these to be part and parcel of an active lifestyle.
The worst of my injuries, however, happened as I had been acting as the uke for my sensei during a demonstration. It was a simple technique called an o-soto-gari, which involved a leg sweep.
